hatha yoga combines posture (yoga asana) and breath (pranayama)
to bring your mind and body into harmony.

Hatha Yoga stands as a timeless practice, anchoring its roots deep in tradition while remaining flexible to cater to modern needs. We offer three distinctive types of Hatha Yoga classes: Hatha – Strength & Stability, Hatha – Gentle and Hatha & Sound. All classes involve a mix of yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), as well as meditation to provide a holistic approach to your practice and wellbeing.

Hatha — Strength & Stability

If you’ve been feeling like your workouts leave you more depleted than energized, Hatha: Strength & Stability may be exactly what you need. This class at Balance is all about moving with intention — building strong, functional muscles while creating a sense of grounded calm.

You’ll work through slower-paced postures with a focus on proper alignment and controlled movement. By holding poses a little longer, your muscles and joints learn to work together for better balance, stability, and overall resilience.

After class: Expect to feel taller, steadier, and more supported in your own body. The slower tempo means you’ll leave with energy to spare — not feeling wiped out.

With consistency: You may notice your posture improving, everyday movements (like carrying groceries or climbing stairs) feeling easier, and a greater sense of confidence in your body’s abilities.

In the room: The environment is calm and focused, with clear instruction so you know exactly what to do and why. Props are available to help you find the safest, most effective version of each posture.

This isn’t about pushing to the limit — it’s about building a foundation you can rely on, whether you’re new to yoga or looking to strengthen your practice from the ground up.

Hatha — Gentle

Maybe you’re returning to movement after time away. Maybe you’re recovering from an injury, feeling stressed, or simply craving a slower pace. Gentle Hatha at Balance is designed for exactly those moments.

This class is about honoring where you are and giving your body what it needs — not what it “should” be able to do. You’ll move through simple postures at an easy pace, using props for support and comfort. The focus is on releasing tension, improving mobility, and reconnecting with your breath.

After class: Expect to feel lighter, more relaxed, and less stiff — as though your body just let out a deep exhale.

With consistency: Gentle Hatha can help reduce chronic tension, improve flexibility, and create a sense of ease in your daily movements. Many students also notice better sleep and less anxiety over time.

In the room: The space is quiet, the music is soft, and the instruction is clear and compassionate. You’ll have time to adjust into each posture without feeling rushed.

This is a practice of care — for your body, your mind, and your nervous system.

Hatha & Sound

If you’ve ever wished you could hit “reset” on your body and mind, Hatha & Sound at Balance comes close. This class blends the grounding benefits of Hatha yoga with the deeply restorative power of sound.

You’ll start with gentle postures to stretch and strengthen the body, held long enough to release tension without strain. Then, as you settle into stillness, you’ll be immersed in the vibrations of singing bowls, gongs, or chimes — sounds designed to help your nervous system shift into a state of deep rest.

After class: Many people describe feeling lighter, clearer, and more balanced — like they’ve just woken from the most restful nap, without the grogginess.

With consistency: You may notice reduced stress levels, more emotional balance, improved sleep, and greater overall resilience.

In the room: The space is softly lit, the temperature is comfortable, and props are used for maximum support. During the sound portion, you simply lie back and receive — no effort required.

It’s the perfect blend of mindful movement and pure relaxation, giving you the tools to feel centered both in and beyond the studio.
