you don’t need a plan
We’ve been taught to believe that change starts with the perfect plan — the color-coded calendars, detailed to-do lists, the “right” workout schedule (*sigh*)…
But as we know, plans are fragile. They shatter the moment life throws something unexpected your way – a kid up all night, a flat tire, or hitting every red light on 3A – aka daily.
Practices, on the other hand, bend. They adapt. They meet you exactly where you are, whether you’ve had the best day of your life or the kind that makes you want to spend the day on the couch. A practice can be done anytime, anywhere. They are short, daily, intentional “doings” that you can stack to achieve highly effective especially if done on a consistent, daily basis.
A plan says: Follow me or you’ve failed.
A practice says: Come as you are. We’ll begin here.
We’re leaning into practice over perfection. It sounds cliche – it’s one of those motivational slogans that almost makes you roll your eyes at first glance. But it lowkey might be the secret to it all. Practice over perfection. Not because structure isn’t important — it is — but because structure without self compassion becomes a cage. When you choose a practice, you choose a living, breathing relationship with yourself. a guaranteed return on investment.
Your mat. Your meditation corner. That walk around the block at lunch. Taking a deep, conscious breath at the red lights. Those aren’t checkboxes. They’re anchors.
At the studio this month, our offerings are designed to help you find and return to those anchors —
Nervous System Resets:
9/12 Acupuncture & The Sleep of the Yogis
9/14 Transformational Breath
9/25 Ayurveda 101: Doshas & Dinacharya
9/25 Kirtan & Sanskrit Mantras
9/28 Falling Slowly: Slow Flow & Sound
You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel better. You just need one thing you can return to — and return to — and return to – over and over again.
Because it’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing something that make you feel good.
And doing it often enough that it becomes who you are.
